Turn times and congestion are the biggest concern competitive issues for both ports and truckers alike. This video discusses a newly developed tool by the Harbor Trucking Association to find the solution to turn times, and what it means for the future of trucking and the ports.
Originally launched by the Harbor Trucking Association in January of 2013, the initial intent of the Turn Time Report was to aggregate all GPS data from member trucks and to track that data.
It started with 200-300 trucks on a testing basis, and has now grown to 1600 tucks in the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, becoming the largest study to be done with drayage trucks.
Now named The Truck Mobility Data Project, to date there has never been a tool in the industry that exists to track performance at the terminal gates.
